Small Sizes. Big Adventures.
Celebrating curiosity, movement, and the magic of growing up outside.
For the Fall 2019 EB Kids campaign, I partnered with an exceptional creative and production team to bring the spirit of outdoor childhood to life. Orcas Island became our playground — a natural backdrop that perfectly captured the energy of back-to-school season through exploration, texture, and light.
We cast a diverse mix of kids and families from Orcas and Seattle, grounding the campaign in authenticity and real connection to place. Over three days, we explored Mt. Constitution, Cascade Falls, Cascade Lake, and the island’s rugged waterfronts. Between hikes, driftwood building, rock skipping, and plenty of laughter, the shoot leaned into genuine moments of play — letting the kids lead the story rather than forcing it.
Winter storytelling brought a different kind of challenge. Shooting snow in August requires creative problem-solving, and Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood — the only year-round ski resort in the lower 48 — made it possible. We built a mid-mountain snow ramp near Silcox Hut to create a winter environment in 90° heat.
Despite the temperatures, the experience felt like pure magic. The kids threw snowballs, sledded on their jackets, built a “hula dancer” snowwoman, and played with Bruno, the mountain’s St. Bernard mascot. The novelty of snow in summer brought a sense of wonder that translated directly to camera — and reminded all of us why kids’ storytelling works best when it feels real, joyful, and a little bit wild.
